Foreword

Welcome to the 3rd Symposium of Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (SRIE 2022)! Malaysia’s railway development is essential for the country’s economic development. Thus, the Malaysian Government is embarking on initiatives and development of mega projects such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link), Mass Rapid Transit 3 (MRT3) and other infrastructure projects to expand Malaysia’s rail network throughout the country. This symposium is timely as UTAR’s Centre for Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (CRIE) aims to promote and expand the technology and human capital development of railway infrastructure and engineering in Malaysia. CRIE will work with other Malaysian government organisations, railway operators and industry players to promote interdisciplinary research in railway infrastructure, engineering, socioeconomics, education, training and service.
